Do you ever get tired of finding spoiled grapes in your refrigerator? (or is it just me?)  Eleven days ago I washed a bag of grapes using Norwex’s Fresh Produce Wash. We finished the grapes today and noticed that NONE of them had spoiled. They were fresh and perfect. I’m accustomed to grapes going bad very quickly, so I am now really, really fond of the Fresh Produce Wash!  It’s a great way to wash away pesticides, waxy residues and mold spores, so produce is healthier and lasts longer.

Here are two photos that I took eleven days ago, when trying out the Fresh Produce Wash for the first time. (I don’t have “after” photos showing the grapes on Day 11 because my kids ate them up before I realized how helpful a photo might be!)

The first photo compares unwashed grapes to those soaked in Fresh Produce Wash:

Why does it matter how well grapes are washed? Grapes are on the Environmental Working Group’s “Dirty Dozen” list of produce found to have high levels of pesticides. My children eat a lot of grapes, and organic produce can be expensive or difficult to find, so I need to know that we’ve washed their fruit well.

To satisfy my curiosity, I also tried comparing grapes simply rinsed with water to those that I’d cleaned with Norwex’s Fresh Produce Wash. It was difficult to capture on camera, but you may be able to see below that the grapes washed with water still have a sticky residue on them, whereas the ones cleaned with Fresh Produce Wash are squeaky clean.

A little Fresh Produce Wash goes a long way — you can either spray it directly on produce before rinsing it, or dilute it in water to soak your produce. I expect the bottle my family is using to last us at least several months.

When I am washing produce that is larger (i.e. potatoes, carrots or apples) I use Norwex’s Fruit and Veggie Scrub Cloth, which has an abrasive side for scrubbing and a smooth side for polishing. It’s also a handy way to clean an apple before packing a school lunch, or to wipe mushrooms before slicing them.

If you have any questions about these products, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I love helping people discover Norwex products that make their lives easier and healthier!
